Alchemists are known as “Philosophers of Fire.”
Calcination, burning a substance to pure ash, is the first operation in the alchemical process.
This yang energy is the catalyst of all change and our process of spiritual alchemy starts here.
When embarking on a transformational path, we must willingly and voluntarily dive into the center of the flame.
This act is quite scary for many as fire is unpredictable. We don’t know precisely how it’s going to work on us—like a full blown forest fire? An explosion? A warm and friendly camp fire? Beginner alchemists don’t yet have the experience to master the fire with skill.
What frightens us about fire is also the inner knowing, that uncomfortable suspicion, that fire will reveal the truth. It does. Fire burns through what doesn’t belong to us, to our essence. Through fire, we come more and more into contact with who we really are. We burn away limitations and conditioning. Fire opens the pathway to possibilities that urges us towards fulfilling our true potential. We are headed towards a lighter, more energized, more passionate future, one that is aligned with our authentic selves.
The process of burning away that which is no longer useful to us also allows us to see those aspects clearly. We are able to now integrate the deeper teachings of life experiences, whether positive or negative.
Fire meditation from the Vijnanabhairava Tantra
- Focus on a fire, fierier and fierier, which raises from your feet and burns you entirely. When there is nothing left but ashes scattered but the wind, know the tranquility of space which returns to space.
- See the entire world as a blazing inferno. Then, when all has turned into ashes, enter bliss.
I willingly walk into the fire of transformation in order to see and become the truth of who I am.
Fire ignites my commitment to the path of transformation.
I fully embody my personal power, passion and expansive energy.
